Derek Merrin: Nursing Home Administrators Warned That Medicaid Cuts In The One Big Beautiful Bill Could Shutter Facilities In The Toledo Area

WTOL: “Concern Has Continued to Increase For Local Nursing Homes Across The Greater Toledo Area On How The Proposed Cuts To Medicaid May Impact Their Facilities.” “U.S. lawmakers are still discussing President Donald Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill.’ However, concern has continued to increase for local nursing homes across the greater Toledo area on how the proposed cuts to Medicaid may impact their facilities.” [WTOL, 6/20/25]

June 2025: A Perrysburg Nursing Home Administrator Said Potential Medicaid Cuts “Could Essentially Come To Where Some Places Are Really Struggling To Stay Open And Provide The Care.” “According to Jeff Miller, administrator for The Manor in Perrysburg, a skilled nursing facility with around 98 residents receiving both short-term rehab and long-term care, it’s estimated that about 80% of their residents rely on Medicaid. ‘We’ve been getting underfunded by Medicaid, and as we see the proposed thing going through right now, it’s very scary for us because that would be another cut that we would have to absorb. So yes, it could essentially come to where some places are really struggling to stay open and provide the care,’ Miller said.” [WTOL, 6/20/25]
