Derek Merrin: The One Big Beautiful Bill Was Projected To Raise Gas Prices By $300 Annually In 2035
Due To Increased Demand And Decreased Supply, Energy Innovation Projected That Ohioans Would Spend “$130 More On Annual Vehicle Fuel Alone In 2030 And $300 Annually In 2035.” “Although the House OBBBA leads to more fossil fuel production, prices still exhibit a net increase, as increased demand would raise prices more than increased domestic supply could lower them. […] Some fuels see greater price increases than others; in Ohio in 2035, we find a $0.27 per gallon increase in gasoline (approximately 9.4 percent), 5.2- and 2.3-percent increases in residential electricity and natural gas prices, respectively, and 8.2- and 15-percent increases in electricity and natural gas prices for industrial producers, respectively. We find the average Ohio household will spend $130 more on annual vehicle fuel alone in 2030 and $300 annually in 2035.” [Energy Innovation, June 2025]
