Kiggans Said She “Believes In Equality” And “Nondiscrimination” And Would Make Mindful Decisions About Discrimination Including For The LGBTQ Community. KIGGANS: “I've always been a candidate who believes in equality who believes in nondiscrimination. […] I was supposed to be a representative of my district, the people that sent me here, so I read each piece of legislation. Every time it comes across my desk, I ensure our religious freedoms are protected. That's very important to me. As a practicing Catholic. So, I ensure those things are taken care of. However, I also want people to not be discriminated against. I want people to be able to have jobs, to be able to have housing. So, when things like bills come across that, that ensure that people can't be discriminated against people like the LGBTQ community, people like veterans, people like disabled people, nursing mothers, pregnant women. There's a lot of protected classes out there that I will vote in favor of those classes because again, I want to ensure these people have jobs. These people have homes, that they're contributing tax members taxpaying members of our society. So those things really make a mindful decision and again, based on based on what I consider to be a commonsense decision for my constituents.” [WRVA, Richmond’s Morning News with John Reid, 4/7/22]
