September 2025: Jen Kiggans Told Federal Workers Who Were Experiencing Joblessness Due To DOGE Cuts That There Were Jobs, And They Just Needed “To Go Out And Get Them”
When Asked What Her Message Was To Federal Workers Who Had Been Laid Off “Under The Reduction In Government Effort By The Trump Administration,” Kiggans Said “Jobs Are Here And I Encourage People To Go Out And Get Them.” HOST: “What is your message to federal workers that have been laid off some in your district under the reduction in government effort by the Trump administration?” KIGGANS: “Jobs are here. We saw the Biden administration expand the size of government, and we can't have that. It's not […] our $37 trillion debt is certainly not sustainable. So there’s been some reduction in the size of the federal government, which is supported by the American people, but the jobs are there and I encourage people to go out and get them.” [John Fredericks Show, YouTube, 9/16/25]

The State Of Virginia Had The Highest Percentage Of Federal Workers In The Country Besides Maryland And Hawaii. “The federal government accounted for more than 144,000 jobs in Virginia last year, according to the Congressional Research Service. That is a larger percentage of the workforce than any state except Maryland and Hawaii. And that doesn’t include Virginians who work for federal contractors, or commute to federal jobs elsewhere in the D.C. metro area. Include all of those, and the number approaches 300,000.” [CNBC, 7/10/25]
