RECRUITMENT FAIL: NRCC-Touted Recruit and GOP Candidate in CA-25, Suzette Martinez Valladares Sees the Writing on the Wall and Jumps Ship for Sacramento

Valladares Once by Touted National Republicans, Runs From House GOP

Earlier this year, Washington Republicans’ campaign arm, the NRCC, touted Suzette Martinez Valladares as “evidence of enthusiasm among diverse Republican candidates.”

NOW, Martinez Valladares has jumped ship as a GOP Congressional candidate in CA-25 and decided to run for office to serve in Sacramento instead Talk about strong Republican recruitment!

After being the first declared GOP candidate in the race, Martinez Valladares is now the first to call it quits. In her defense, she likely saw the writing on the wall after being trounced by Rep. Katie Hill in these first months.

“As the ranks of women in the House Republican caucus continues to shrink by the day, it’s telling that the NRCC and Republicans in Washington are failing to do anything substantive to support their promoted candidates – like Martinez Valladares – and give them the tools to overcome a toxic Washington Republican brand,” said DCCC Spokesperson, Andy Orellana. “While Republicans continue to flounder in their attempts to field a credible candidate in California’s 25th District, community leader and problem-solver Rep. Katie Hill has been laser focused on finding common ground to increase resources for Veterans and lower health care costs for families in Southern California.”
