Sabato’s Crystal Ball Moves EIGHT Districts in Democrats’ Favor

With less than six months to go until the midterms, the House battlefield continues to move in Democrats’ direction, as it becomes increasingly clear that Democrats will take back the majority.

New ratings changes from Sabato’s Crystal Ball moves eight races, outside of Florida’s blatantly illegal gerrymander, in Democrats’ direction, including vulnerable Republicans:

  • Bill Huizenga (MI-04) → Likely Republican to Leans Republican
  • Brad Finstad (MN-01) → Safe Republican to Likely Republican
  • Chuck Edwards (NC-11) → Likely Republican to Leans Republican
  • Max Miller (OH-07) → Safe Republican to Likely Republican
  • OPEN (TX-23) → Safe Republican to Likely Republican

All told, 213 races are at LEAST “Leans D,” while just 207 races are rated at least “Leans R.”

These changes come just a day after Democrats’ overperformed by 19 points in a special election to fill a state Senate seat in Michigan. At the same time, Democrats have taken a commanding 10-point lead in the generic congressional ballot according to the latest NPR/PBS News/Marist Poll. In a desperate memo yesterday, the NRCC outlined their flawed campaign strategy hinged on begging voters to ignore the higher costs caused by Republicans’ dangerous agenda.

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol
“Democrats are expanding the House battlefield. We have better candidates that have raised more resources, and they are delivering an authentic message to voters across the political spectrum.”
