Steve Chabot Votes Against Lowering Prices, Again

Yesterday, House Democrats once again took action to lower costs by passing the Lower Food & Fuel Costs Act. Chabot joined his party bosses and voted against legislation that would:

  • Lower costs at grocery stores by lowering costs for farmers through material needs like fertilizer.

  • Boost meat and poultry competition which will drive down prices.

  • Encourage and empower farmers to increase production of biofuels so Americans can have more choices when they go to the gas pump. Enabling the sale of E15 year-round will help diversify options and bring down costs of fuel.

  • Establish a task force to examine our supply chain in order to improve it.

This bill is just the latest piece of legislation House Democrats have put forward to drive down costs and improve our supply chains. Here is a list of other price tackling bills that Chabot voted against:

  • House Democrats passed a bill to stop companies from gouging gas prices. Chabot voted NO.

  • House Democrats passed legislation to cap the out-of-pocket cost of insulin at $35 per month. Chabot voted NO.

  • House Democrats passed a bill to help get more baby formula on shelves. Chabot voted NO.

  • House Democrats passed the America COMPETES Act, a bill that will boost our competitiveness with China and reduce prices by strengthening our supply chains, addressing some of the biggest bottlenecks, and bringing more manufacturing back to the U.S. Chabot voted NO.

  • The historic Infrastructure Deal that President Biden signed into law to improve our nation’s infrastructure will ease inflation while upgrading our ports, airports, and roadways. Chabot voted NO.

“When given the opportunity to tackle rising costs, Steve Chabot just voted to keep prices high,” said DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre. “Chabot continues to prove that he is out-of-touch with Ohioans and would rather play politics than deliver solutions.”
