Stewart Mills III Embraced by Washington Insider Friends

Stewart Mills III welcomed Washington insiders’ embrace with open arms this morning, when the NRCC named him to their Young Guns’ “Contender” list, their program for helping candidates who they know will be another reliable vote for them in Washington get elected.

Mills’ blessing by Washington insiders didn’t work out all that well for him last time, but he needs all the help he can get, considering he’s been eagerly taking money from the billionaire Koch brothers who shuttered a Duluth factory in 2012, while calling 8th District construction workers liars and circumventing local prevailing wage laws.

Meanwhile Stewart Mills’ self-proclaimed “businessman” chops have been questioned, as local media reported on the Mills family receiving “$5.5 million in subsidies and tax relief” to expand their fleet of stores. Now that Mills has sold out his family’s business for $1.2 billion to a Wall Street buyout firm, “the Mills family gets a windfall and taxpayers get the bill.”

“Multi-millionaire Stewart Mills III is using the $1.2 billion windfall he made off the backs of Minnesota taxpayers and the donations from the very billionaires who put 8th District workers out of a job to run a campaign based on lies and exaggerations of a business record that doesn’t exist,” said Sacha Haworth of the DCCC. “But all the money in Stewart Mills’ world won’t buy him a district in Congress.”
