In the wake of the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade and 50 years of precedent, House Republicans must defend their unpopular, draconian record of fighting to overturn Roe and block access to abortion, and answer for their party’s plan for a nationwide abortion ban.
Make no mistake: Republicans are on the wrong side of this issue. Polling conducted after the leak of the SCOTUS draft opinion overturning Roe shows: by a two-to-one margin, people oppose Roe being overturned; 80% of people believe abortion should be decided between a woman and her doctor; and nearly two-thirds of people oppose the GOP’s plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban.
Every Republican running for Congress will be held accountable for their role in the recent decision and their party’s plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban.

What will Tom Emmer, Kevin McCarthy and House GOP leadership say to the women living in fear now that Republicans have ripped away 50 years of constitutionally guaranteed freedom and protections?
-
Do they support a proposed nationwide ban?
-
Do they support exceptions in cases of rape, incest or harm to the woman?
DCCC spokesperson Helen Kalla:
“Extremist Republicans have been working towards knocking down the last bulwark of women’s bodily autonomy for decades – now they have to own up to their deeply unpopular position. Every single House Republican must explain their record of attacking women’s personal freedoms and answer whether they support their party leaders’ plan to impose a draconian nationwide abortion ban.”
