Tom Barrett “fell short” once again on his latest campaign finance report, so he turned to the kingmakers of the far right: the Koch brothers. Barrett’s campaign accepted thousands of dollars from the Koch network in an attempt to finance his failing campaign against Rep. Elissa Slotkin.
Barrett is no stranger to the Kochs’ network of special interests and dark money. His political career has been bankrolled by the Koch network for years, and they’ve already spent over half a million dollars from their dark money arm to try to get Barrett elected to Congress.
And it’s no wonder why the Koch network is so invested in supporting Tom Barrett: they know he would be a reliable vote for their agenda of tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, outsourcing Michigan jobs, and opposing bipartisan investments to support Michigan’s auto manufacturing industry.
“Michiganders need a representative who fights for them, not the Koch brothers,” said DCCC Spokesperson Matt Corridoni. “Barrett’s alliance with the Koch network is a clear sign that he’d side with them in Congress instead of standing up for mid-Michigan families. This November, voters will reject Barrett and his special interest backers.”
