Tony Gonzales Calls for More Funding for Police Officers After Voting Against More Funding for Police Officers

Tony Gonzales voted against funding for local governments, including law enforcement, when he voted NO on the American Rescue Plan

Tony Gonzales (TX-23) would like you to know he thinks police officers should be better funded. He just left out one inconvenient detail: He himself voted against additional funding for local government services, including police departments, in his district when he voted against the American Rescue Plan. Across the country, ARP provided federal rescue funding that local governments — including in some of Texas’s biggest cities, like in Houston and Dallas — used to bolster law enforcement agencies.

This isn’t the first time Two-Faced Tony has said one thing and done another when it comes to supporting law enforcement. In July, Tony Gonzales told local media he thought it was “critical” to send the message to Texas National Guardsmen who deployed to the Capitol after the January 6th insurrection that members of Congress “have [their] back.” But just a few weeks earlier, he voted to stop a bipartisan committee from uncovering the truth about the violent January 6th attack on our democracy.

Next time he tweets about what he does and doesn’t support, maybe Two-Faced Tony should take a closer look at his own voting record first.
