A bombshell report from CNN today revealed that Monica De La Cruz in TX-15 is one of at least twelve “prized recruits” from the NRCC that has embraced Trump’s “big lie” and “sought to undermine the legitimacy of the past elections.”
As CNN reported, “In Texas, a county elections administrator disputed [Monica De La Cruz’s] claims of voter fraud after she lost to Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez in 2020.”
While this might set off alarm bells for some, it apparently doesn’t bother the NRCC, who included Monica De La Cruz in their “Young Guns” recruit program for candidates that “embody the principles of the House Republican Conference and show promise of running a successful campaign.” And things got even more awkward for the NRCC this week after De La Cruz got her first primary opponent, setting up a bruising contest to be their party’s nominee.
“Simply put: Extremist candidates like Monica De La Cruz who embrace Trump’s big lie that fueled a deadly attack on our nation’s Capitol have no business serving in the halls of Congress,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “While the NRCC might prop up insurrectionists and election conspiracy theorists, voters in South Texas will see right through their dangerous lies.”
