Will Monica De La Cruz in TX-15 Condemn False Claims About January 6?

Politifact slams Republican Mauro Garza for false claim that FBI agents “instigated Jan. 6 attack on US Capitol”

Politifact published a blistering new fact check of Republican candidate Mauro Garza’s most recent ad, which spread dangerous, extremist lies about the insurrection on January 6th. Will Monica De La Cruz condemn the “false claims” from her primary opponent, or will she cater to fringe, far right conspiracy theorists?

The report slams Garza for “airing an ad that repeated a false conspiracy theory” about January 6th, and specifically, for promoting the debunked claim that “FBI agents instigated or participated” in the attack. As Politifact writes:

“Garza’s claim follows a pattern of Republican officials and candidates, Trump sympathizers and right-wing media figures trying to redirect blame for the attack, or play down its significance, a campaign we called our Lie of the Year for 2021.”

The lies about our elections and democracy in the Republican TX-15 primary are becoming more insidious by the day. Recently, NRCC Young Gun Monica De La Cruz was slammed for being one of at least twelve “prized recruits” that has embraced Trump’s “big lie” and “sought to undermine the legitimacy of the past elections.” As her national establishment backers declare January 6 to be “legitimate political discourse,” will Monica De La Cruz take a stand and denounce these “false claims” from her primary opponent?

“Monica De La Cruz and Mauro Garza have repeatedly proven themselves willing to lie and cheat to get elected,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “South Texans deserve better than their continued lies about the lawless, deadly attack on our nation’s capital that claimed the lives of law enforcement officers.”
