“WORST YEAR IN MY CAREER”: Washington Post Exposes How Mike Lawler’s Support for Trump’s Reckless War Is Crushing Hudson Valley Families

Lawler continues to cheer on Trump’s cost-spiking war as NY-17 small businesses, seniors, and working families get hammered at the pump

damning new report from the Washington Post puts the cost of Mike Lawler’s lockstep loyalty to Donald Trump on full display — and Hudson Valley families are clearly the ones paying the price.

As Trump’s reckless war of choice in Iran enters its eighth week, gas prices have surged to more than $4 a gallon nationwide, with diesel in Rockland County now going for nearly $7 a gallon.

Nearly two dozen NY-17 voters discussed the reality of Mike Lawler’s price-raising agenda.

One local wholesaler told the Post he is spending over 25% more just to fuel its delivery trucks, forcing price hikes on restaurants, caterers, and hotels across the community.

A 30-year industry veteran in the district said “this is the worst year in my career, besides covid and 2008.” A first-time midterm voter said she’s showing up this year because “we need change” — starting with ending Trump’s war and bringing fuel prices down.

And what has Mike Lawler done about it? He’s cheered the war on.

Lawler voted twice to greenlight Trump’s war, called it a “righteous decision,” and declared the resulting price spikes “absolutely worth it” — all while his own constituents say they can’t afford groceries, can’t keep their small businesses afloat, and can’t believe the congressman they sent to Washington is nowhere to be found.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Lawler promised to lower costs for Hudson Valley families. Instead, he rubber-stamped Trump’s reckless war and called the resulting price spikes ‘absolutely worth it.’ Now, small business owners are calling this the worst year of their careers, and even Trump voters are walking away. Come November, NY-17 will remember how Lawler sold them out.”
