| Non-partisan race raters and public pollsters agree: Bob Harvie has Brian Fitzpatrick on the ropes.
Cook Political report today has shifted Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District to TOSS UP, capping off a remarkable month of momentum behind Harvie’s surging campaign.
KEY MOMENTUM SHIFTS FOR HARVIE IN OCTOBER INCLUDE:
- October 4th: The Philadelphia Inquirer Editorial Board endorsed Harvie and offered a blistering takedown of Fitzpatrick. The endorsement was especially notable given that the Editorial Board has previously endorsed Fitzpatrick in past years.
- October 5th: The DCCC released our first coordinated TV ad in the race, “A Lot Has Changed,” making this the first cycle since 2020 that the DCCC has made an investment on TV in PA-01.
- October 6th: The New York Times reported on the PA-01 race and noted that “the party is making its biggest play there in years in the campaign’s final sprint.”
- October 10th: Leader Jeffries and Governor Shapiro rallied with Harvie in Bucks County.
- October 14th: The DCCC released our second coordinated TV ad in the race, “Bucks to the Beltway,” highlighting how much Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick has changed after nearly a decade in Washington.
- October 23rd: The DCCC released our third coordinated TV ad in the race, “Vote for Change,” making it explicitly clear to Bucks and Montgomery County voters: A vote for Brian Fitzpatrick is a vote to keep Republicans in charge.
- October 25th: NYT/SIENA/INQUIRER polling showed Harvie surging into the lead, 48%-46%.
- October 27th, 29th, and 30th: Sabato’s Crystal Ball, Inside Elections, and Cook Political Report all moved the race to Toss Up.
DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene will campaign alongside Harvie this weekend.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Bob Harvie has closed the gap on Brian Fitzpatrick with a simple message: a vote for Bob is a vote for change, while a vote for Fitzpatrick would be a vote for continued Republican control in Congress. Harviementum, baby.”
