Johnson County Sheriff Calvin Hayden has been slammed by people across the country for his continued use of taxpayer dollars to investigate baseless election conspiracy claims, despite there being “no evidence of widespread voter fraud anywhere in Kansas.”
But that hasn’t stopped Amanda Adkins from prominently featuring Hayden in her campaign – highlighting him in a recent campaign ad and telling supporters just last week that she is “most proud of” her endorsement from the election conspiracy theorist.
Hayden recently took the stage at a far-right panel on voter fraud alongside a member of Oath Keepers – an extremist group that participated in the deadly January 6 insurrection – to espouse false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election. After refusing to release records related to his office’s work on the issue, Hayden’s sham investigation was exposed when a records request yielded just one report of potential fraud that was deemed an “accident” by the voter.
Adkins, who has been endorsed by Hayden twice, has refused to acknowledge the results of the 2020 presidential election or condemn dangerous election conspiracies and misinformation, as well as the deadly January 6 insurrection they inspired.
