Strong and Steady: DCCC Posts Biggest Off-Year August in its History

Today the DCCC announced it raised a record-breaking $7.21 million in August of 2019, its strongest off-year August in DCCC history and nearly $1 million more than the committee raised in August of 2017.

This record-breaking August follows 7 consecutive months in 2019 where the DCCC has outraised the NRCC. The DCCC’s August fundraising report is anchored by more than $4.2 million in grassroots contributions, with an average online gift of $19. This continues to build on the DCCC’s strong support from grassroots donors giving online, on the phones, and through the mail.

“Our supporters know what’s at stake: a strong Democratic House Majority is the only firewall against President Trump and the recklessness of his party in Washington,” said DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos. “While Republicans in Washington look for new ways to attack Americans’ health care, we are pushing further into once ruby-red districts. All of that is possible because of the constant support of our grassroots donors.”

Through August, the DCCC had raised more than $76 million in 2019.

Since the start of 2019, the DCCC has launched:

  • An Offensive Battlefield of 39 GOP-held seats – Chairwoman Bustos believes the best defense is a strong offense which is why the DCCC began 2019 by taking the fight deep into historically Republican-held territory, and has already expanded the battlefield once.
  • The Democratic Frontline Program – With a House Majority for the first time since 2010, building a modern Frontline program from the ground up was a top priority for the DCCC early this year. In 2019, the DCCC has elevated 44 Democratic Members of Congress to participate in our Frontline program.
  • March Forward – In an early boots-on-the-ground effort, the DCCC launched a new program to hire and train 60 grassroots field managers in dozens of communities across America.
  • DCCC:Texas – With six targeted GOP-held seats in the Lone Star State, the DCCC made a bold move to put a new headquarters in Austin with eight senior staffers.
